Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to visit this website to find out more about this exciting leadership opportunity at East Lothian Council.

East Lothian is a high-performing council which has an excellent record of delivering high-quality services and continues to improve.

While it is a challenging climate for local government, it is also an exciting time to be joining East Lothian Council. In a period of significant change, development and local population growth, we are ambitious for the future of our special county and the residents we serve.

Delivering the more prosperous, safe and sustainable East Lothian we all want to see includes helping our children achieve their fullest potential in life. We want to ensure they benefit from the best start in life, to enjoy being young, and to grow and develop in a safe, supportive environment.

Our Chief Operating Officer - Education will play a vital leadership role in supporting children and young people to realise their full potential. We are keen to hear from individuals who can foster successful relationships with school leaders and partners; who can encourage collaborative working through school-to-school support and challenge; and who can contribute to a culture where high expectations for pupils are rooted in consistent, practical and inclusive school improvement methodologies.

Working with our committed and passionate school and education teams, the successful candidate will personify and embed our Council Values - Enabling, Leading and Caring.

The Council has engaged Solace in Business to support them in making this important appointment - if you'd like a confidential discussion about the role you can contact Evelyn Dougherty on 07846 649714.

You can also contact me directly if you would like to discuss the position. You can arrange a conversation via my PA Hazel Moffat on 01620 827834.

I look forward to receiving your application.
