It’s an exciting time to be joining East Lothian Council.

As a provider of essential public services in one of Scotland’s fastest growing areas, we’re looking for a highly capable senior leader to take on the role of Executive Director of Council Resources here at the Council. This person will join the Council’s senior management team, working closely with me as Chief Executive, the Director of Place, the Director of Education and Children's Services and  the Director of the East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.

We’re looking for someone with the talent, vision and capacity to think and act strategically, to ensure that the Council makes maximum use of its resources and capacity, to deliver the very best for our county.

For many years, we’ve been recognised as a high-performing local authority with talented, committed and hard-working employees.

We serve one of Scotland’s most beautiful areas – with thriving towns and villages, enterprising businesses and award-winning attractions.

We want to make the county an even better place in which to live, work and invest, continue building on improvements to services and achieve a more prosperous, safe and sustainable East Lothian.

With a rising population we must focus on giving our children the best possible start in life, create opportunities for our young people, develop skills to enhance the local economy and employability and enhance our infrastructure.

We are determined to tackle poverty, inequality and address the challenges of climate change.

We do so against the backdrop of a very challenging financial environment for local government – underlining the need for strong leadership through continued innovation such as embracing digital technology and doing things differently.

Our new Executive Director will be a visible and influential presence in the organisation - supporting Elected Members and working with colleagues across the organisation to build on our strong strategic focus, sustain the pace of transformation, maintain and develop our strong governance arrangements, and continue delivering high-quality and efficient services.

The successful candidate will personify and embed our Council Values - Enabling, Leading and Caring.

The Council has engaged Solace in Business to support them in making this important appointment - if you'd like a confidential discussion about the role you can contact Steve Guest on 020 7976 3311.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.
